Study on interaction type of sheet pile

Sheet pile wall is a retaining structure formed by upright batten-like members, which is usually used to resist lateral earth pressure. The stability of this structure usually depends on the earth pressure on the side of the wall, in fact, it depends on the interaction between the sheet pile wall and the soil. Sheet pile wall is generally divided into three types: unsupported, single support and multi-support. It can resist the soil around the foundation pit and prevent water seepage and soil slide from occurring. Therefore, the sheet pile wall is usually used for foundation pit protection projects. Medium and slope protection and construction of temporary cofferdams and underground structures. The traditional sheet pile wall design must consider the shear failure inside the soil and ensure that the bending stress on the wall should not be too large. There are usually two types of instability modes of sheet pile walls. One is that the sheet pile wall rotates around a point near the foot of the wall, which is what we call rotational failure; the other is the earth pressure on the wall or the applied force. The external load exceeds the load-bearing range of the wall itself. At this time, plastic failure of the sheet pile wall occurs, and the failure point mostly occurs at the maximum horizontal bending moment on the wall. Due to the relatively simple structure and reasonable economy and applicability of sheet pile walls, sheet pile walls have been widely used in engineering practice, so more and more theoretical researches have been made on sheet pile walls. The main research methods include field and laboratory test methods, numerical analysis methods and analytical methods.

 

Under a small load, the sheet pile wall structural displacement is small. As the external load increases, the horizontal displacement of the sheet pile wall and the bending moment of the wall gradually increase. When the external load reaches a certain value, the sheet pile increases with the load. The development of the horizontal displacement of the top of the wall has accelerated, indicating that the external load has exceeded the bearing capacity of the sheet pile wall structure. The bearing capacity of the designed sheet pile wall structure mainly comes from the earth pressure of the silt layer. During the load application process, with the displacement of the sheet pile wall, the earth pressure acting on the passive side of the sheet pile wall increases significantly, while the active side earth pressure changes Small, meanwhile, the bending moment of the sheet pile wall is also increased. The bending moment distribution law of the sheet pile wall is that the middle part is larger, while the upper and lower parts are smaller. The section of the maximum bending moment of the sheet pile wall is located in the main bearing layer-silt layer. Increasing the depth of the sheet pile wall into the soil will not effectively improve the bearing capacity of the sheet pile wall structure, but will cause its own bending moment to increase. Since the main load causing the displacement and bending moment of the sheet pile wall is the wave load above the ocean mud surface, the increase of the soil depth of the sheet pile wall cannot significantly improve the horizontal displacement of the wall and the bending moment of the wall.
