In South America, people prefers marine grade steel sheet piling to be used in their projects, especially the sheet piling projects along the seaside where there is corrosion environment.
That requires the manufacturers to produce the sheet piles with the marine grade material ASTM A690/A690M. According its standard ASTM A690/A690M-2007, A690 material could provide a high anti-corrosion performance especially at the splash zone.
A higher rate containment of the element Copper (Cu) makes A690 material to be of a higher anti-corrosion performance. Here are the mechanical properties and chemical compositions of A690 material:
Mechanical Properties
Material | Yield Strength | Tensile Strength | Elongation |
A690/A690M | ≥345 Mpa ≥50ksi | ≥485Mpa ≥70ksi | ≥21% |
Chemical Composition %
C | Si | Mn | P | S | Cu |
≤0.22 | ≤0.4 | 0.6-0.9 | 0.08-0.15 | ≤0.04 | ≥0.5 |
Shunli had developed A690 marine grade steel in China together with BaoSteel in the year 2010, and had already applied this kind of material in many sheet pile projects.
