At the same time, the project will achieve the interconnection of the waters around Mombasa's main island through offshore dredging, which will play a role in promoting regional environmental protection and tourism development.
After the unveiling ceremony of the Likoni pontoon bridge in Mombasa, President Kenyatta personally experienced the bridge. The Likoni pontoon bridge project is an important emergency project for Kenya's epidemic prevention and control. China Road and Bridge Corporation overcame the pressure of epidemic prevention and efficiently organized project construction, completing the project in just five months. The pontoon bridge is 660 meters long in total, connecting Mombasa's main island and the southern coast area, and can meet the daily passage of 300,000 person-times. After its completion, it will greatly relieve the traffic and epidemic prevention pressure of Likoni ferry.
